 Our Intellectual Property Staff is delighted to inform you that the General Directorate of Industrial Property (DIGERPI) has published the Official Bulletin No. 299 (trademarks)  and Official Bulletin No. 299 (Patents), on  June 28, 2013.

In this bulletin you will find details of the trademarks that have been recently requested before DIGERPI and that has passed the registrations exam successfully.

 The term to submit opposition actions against the published trademarks is of two (2) months, counted from the date of the publication.

The deadline for this Bulletin is August 29, 2013.

Nuestro equipo de Propiedad Intelectual se complace en informarle que la Dirección General del Registro de la Propiedad  Industrial (DIGERPI), ha publicado el Boletín Oficial No. 299 (Marcas) y el Boletín Oficial No. 299 (Patentes) del 28 de Junio 2013.  

En este Boletín encontrará detalles sobre las marcas que han sido recientemente solicitadas ante la DIGERPI y que han pasado satisfactoriamente el examen de registro.

El plazo para presentar demandas de oposición en contra de las marcas publicadas es de dos (2) meses, contados a partir  de la  fecha de  publicación respectiva.

La fecha de vencimiento del Boletín arriba mencionado es el 29 de agosto de 2013.

Merchant Marine Circulars

Please find attached copy of  Merchant Marine Circular No. 275  recently issued by Panama Maritime Authority (PMA).

The purpose of this Circular is to inform about the new regulation applicable to the food and catering services according to Rule 3.2 of the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC 2006).

It is important to point out that shipowners must provide drinking water and suitable food supplies, free of charges, to all their seafarers during their period on board or contract period.  Shiponwers shall ensure that adequate, varied and nutritious meals are prepared and served to seafarers in hygienic conditions, following International Medical Guide for Ships.

Shipowners shall ensure as well that seafarers hired as cooks on board are trained for that purpose and have the qualifications and competences required. The training course should be endorsed by PMA certifying him as a fully qualified cook and covering topics such as: practical cookery, food and personal hygienic, food storage, stock control, environmental protection and catering health and safety.
