Our Intellectual Property Staff is delighted to inform you that the General Directorate of Industrial Property (DIGERPI) has published the Official Bulletin No. 305 (trademarks)  and Official Bulletin No. 305 (Patents), on January 27, 2014.

In this bulletin you will find details of the trademarks that have been recently requested before DIGERPI and that has passed the registrations exam successfully.

 The term to submit opposition actions against the published trademarks is of two (2) months, counted from the date of the publication.

The deadline for this Bulletin is March 28, 2014.

Nuestro equipo de Propiedad Intelectual se complace en informarle que la Dirección General del Registro de la Propiedad  Industrial (DIGERPI), ha publicado el Boletín Oficial No. 305 (Marcas) y el Boletín Oficial No. 305 (Patentes) del 27 de enero de  2014.  

En este Boletín encontrará detalles sobre las marcas que han sido recientemente solicitadas ante la DIGERPI y que han pasado satisfactoriamente el examen de registro.

El plazo para presentar demandas de oposición en contra de las marcas publicadas es de dos (2) meses, contados a partir  de la  fecha de  publicación respectiva.

La fecha de vencimiento del Boletín arriba mencionado es el 28 de marzo de 2014.

ARODI NEWS – Panama reports at the International Labour Organization (ILO) about the entry into force of the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC 2006)

During a recent session of the Administration Council of the International Labour Organization (ILO), Panama rendered its first report about the entry into force on August 20, 2013 of the Maritime Labour Convention MLC 2006 and the respective steps that the Panama Maritime Authority (PMA) has taken in this regards.

The entry into force of the MLC 2006 has been a real challenge to Panama due to its important place in the international maritime community and its dual role as flag and port country.  For various months, the PMA developed a detailed implementation program that included: the developing of circulars concerning various legal and technical aspects of the MLC 2006; a certification process to all vessels registered; an inspection process as flag and port state; a complete training to administrative staff on the MLC 2006; an accreditation process to inspectors according to MLC 2006 guidelines; among other strategies and compromises.

All this implementation process and related activities allowed PMA to apply an effective jurisdiction on board vessels under Panama flag and comply with success with the MLC 2006.
