Merchant Marine Circulars
Please find attached copy of Merchant Marine Circular No. 274 recently issued by Panama Maritime Authority (PMA).
The Administration informs that according to Regulation 5.1.6. of the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC 2006), about Maritime Accidents, any serious marine casualty taking place on board Panamanian flagged vessels, resulting into injuries or loss of life to seafarers, shall only be investigated by staff of the Marine Accident Investigation Department of PMA.
Each company or ship shall develop its internal procedures and send the information or report of the accident through special forms from Marine Accident Investigation Department. See attached draft of these forms.
